Univ.-Prof. Arch. DI Hermann Kaufmann / HK Architekten

Recognised and one of the global leaders in innovative timber architecture Hermann Kaufmann +Partner GmbH is central to the Vorarlberg architecture movement. Driven by a deep rooted understanding of timber, design and sustainability the multi award winning practice is home to a team of exacting experts. The work of the company has forged a recognisable aesthetic and a reputation for excellence that is known from Japan to Canada and across all of Europe.

The Challenges:
As the company has grown and evolved, so too has their understanding of needing to bring in the global market to their website to see their work and understand their processes and innovative skills. To do this required a complete overhaul of the website and all work had to be in two languages, the native German and English. The text also had to incorporate key search terms, set a professional tone while delivering a balance of the technical and the aesthetic.

The Work:
Working with HK+P over 4 years I have translated everything they have done to English. This lengthy process included over a 100 projects, over 50 news stories and multiple award applications and all digital and print content. The work had to maintain the exacting architectural terminologies, a professional standard while allowing clients, new comers and potential new clients to understand and enjoy the work of this international timber expert.

The Results:
The practice can confidently share all projects, content and news stories around the world. With a focus on education, the work of the team is now accessible by thousands of students. Also, due to the usability of their website and its content they can use the site as a body of work in evidence to support project applications and global competitions. The achieve, news, team and project success stories will continue to grow and so will the number of award wins – all of this will be shared in English
